Last week, one of the little neighbor boys was killed in an accident and it's been very sobering and touching to see little knots of neighbors gathered on the street and a steady stream of cars going to his house.  This has been such a beautiful fall season but a little melancholy.

I am reading Jane Eyre again and the atmosphere seems very fitting - a little Gothic and melodramatic with the promise of a happy ending.
